Creating and Sending Assignments to Your Students
Arc Studio Classroom allows you to create a screenwriting assignment in the app and send copies of it to all your students. The instructor will be included as a collaborator on each student’s copy of the assignment for feedback and evaluation, and the assignments will be grouped together in a project folder.
For example, this assignment could be a scene you want your students to rewrite (with specific instructions), an outline you want them to expand or turn into a draft, a script you want them to leave comments on, or something else.
To start, create a new script document. The name of this script will be the name of the assignment. Add the relevant information to the document, including any scenes, Beats on the Plot board, or Notes.
If you want to give your students specific instructions, we recommend including a README note. This note will automatically open when your student gets the assignment. Learn more about README notes here.
You can also include a Note with a character worksheet, or some other kind of worksheet.
When you’re ready to send the assignment, click the Share arrow in the top right and select Create Assignment
.
This will open a pop-up where you can add the email address of all the students you want to send copies of the assignment to.
You can also select which elements of the script you want to include in the assignment copies.
Click Create
when you’re ready, and copies of the assignment will be sent to your students.
You will automatically be added as a collaborator to all the assignments so you can monitor, give feedback, and evaluate your students’ work.
All the assignments are grouped together in a folder. You can find that folder by navigating to the Desk and clicking Projects.
The assignment will be named using the format Assignment: [Name of the original script]
In the example above, the folder is called Assignment: Dialogue Writing Exercise 1
