Getting Started in Arc Studio
How do I set up my account?
If your school is setting up an Arc Studio account for you, you will receive an email invitation from Team Arc Studio asking you to “Join classroom”
Click Join classroom to finish setting up your account and join the classroom. You may be asked for a confirmation code, which you can find at the bottom of the invitation email.
You will be asked to enter your name and add a password. Please enter your full name as it will be used to identify you and your work. Also be sure to save your password somewhere safe.
I can’t find the invite email. What do I do?
If you’ve been sent the email but can’t find it, search your inbox for “Arc Studio” including the spam folder. If you are unable to locate the invite please inform your instructor.
Do I need to download an app to use Arc Studio?
You can use Arc Studio via your web browser at app.arcstudiopro.com, but for the best experience we recommend downloading the Arc Studio desktop app. The desktop allows you to write while offline for an extended period of time.
The app can be downloaded at arcstudiopro.com/download
How do I log into my Arc Studio account?
After you have set up your account, you can log into Arc Studio at https://app.arcstudiopro.com/ using the school email address that was used to set up your account and your password.
What if I forgot my password?
You can reset your password by using the “Forgot password” option on the log in screen. Enter the email address associated with your account and reset the password. You will be sent an email that will allow you to choose a new password.
Assignments in Arc Studio
How do I find my assignments?
If your professor or teacher has created assignments for you in Arc Studio, you can locate them by navigating to the desk and clicking on Classrooms in the left sidebar. This will show you a list of all the classes for which you are registered in Arc Studio.
Click on the name of the class to see the assignments for that class. You can then click on the name of the assignment.
Two different types of assignments in Arc Studio.
There are two different types of assignments in Arc Studio:
- Assignments where the teacher has created a script template for you to use.
- Assignments where you are submitting a script or project that you the student created.
Script template assignments
If you click on an assignment and just see the button Start assignment (like in the example below for “Dialogue Exercise”) it means your teacher has created a script file for you that you need to use to complete your work.
If you click Start assignment you will be taken to your copy of the assignment. Your teacher is automatically included on the assignment as a collaborator. (Below is an example of what it might look like, but this will vary depending on your assignment.)
“Submit to…” assignments
If you click on the assignment and see buttons asking you to Start Assignment or Submit existing Script/Project (like in the image below) then this is an assignment where you will be creating the script or project.
- If you click
Start Assignmentyou will be starting a new blank script or project. - If you click
Submit existing Script/Projectthen you can submit work that you have already done in Arc Studio.
If you click Submit existing Script/Project then you will be asked whether you want to submit a script or a project, and then which script or project you want to submit.
Once you submit to the assignment, your teacher will be added as a collaborator for the script or project.
Production Assignments (Breakdowns, schedules, etc)
If you are submitting an assignment that has or will have a production component (script breakdowns, scheduling, etc.) then you need to submit it as a Project. If you submit it as a script only, the teacher will only have access to the script and not the production component.
- If you only have a script (you haven’t started the breakdown or created a schedule) you need to create a project and add their script to the project. Then you can submit that project as an assignment.
- If you have already started the script breakdown, the project will have already been created. You can submit that project as an assignment and the teacher will have access to both the script and production portions of the project.
