You can hear your script read aloud with Arc Studio’s Table Read feature. This makes it easier to catch typos, get a sense of your script’s rhythm, and find out if the dialogue sounds natural.
Activate Table Reads in the Settings
To start, activate the Table Read feature in Arc Studio via the settings menu.
Click the settings icon (⚙️) in the top right and select “All Settings.”
- Select AI on the left.
- Toggle Table reads to On
Start a Table Read for your Script
After you’ve toggled on Table Reads, you can start one for your script by clicking the speaker icon in the top right.
This will open up the Table Read sidebar on the right.
Choose Your Settings
In the Table Read sidebar on the right you will find the player controls and the Settings.
Settings
Autoplay Next Scene - When toggled on, the Table Read will continue reading the next scene. When toggled off it will stop at the end of the scene it’s currently reading.
Playback speed - You can increase the speed at which your script is read via the dropdown menu.
Vocalized elements - Choose which elements you want the voices to read:
- Dialogues - Only the dialogue elements will be read aloud.
- Scenes, Action and Dialogue - Only the scene headings, action paragraphs, and dialogue elements will be read aloud.
- All elements - The entire script will be read aloud, minus the character names and parentheticals.
Assign the Voices
Below the settings you’ll find a list of all the speaking characters in your script. The Narrator will read the non-dialogue elements of the script.
When you play the script, initial voices will automatically be assigned to the characters, but you can also choose each voice yourself by clicking on the character name.
This will bring you to the Voices Menu.
Use the search bar and filters at the top to help find the voice you want to use for the character.
Click the play icon to the left of the voice’s name to hear a sample of that voice.
Click the check mark (✓) to the right of the voice to select it for the character.
Click the left arrow at the top (Next to “Voice for…”) to return to the main Table Read menu.
